Solar Energy Tips You Really Need To Know
Solar energy is extremely beneficial to the planet. This source of energy does not have any impact on the environment. Although solar panels are a great idea, they should be financial realistic in your investment. This article will enable you to make the right decision.
A reliable energy storage system is needed to store your solar energy. You have two options here. You can either sell the excess power to the electric company to offset the costs during cloudy days, or you can get a bank of batteries that will allow you to get off the grid completely.
Panels that are easily rotated have the best efficiency. The ideal angle of your panels will change throughout the day and from one season to the next.
If you are interested in leasing a solar power system, pay attention to the terms. You want to be able to transfer the lease if necessary. This is very important because if you sell your home, you could be stuck paying for a lease on a solar unit that you cannot use. This can pass the benefits of a solar energy system to the next homeowner and save you money in the process.
Think carefully about whether solar power is a good choice for you. You need to consider several different things. For example, anyone already off-grid will hugely benefit from solar energy. When you can afford a higher installation bill, this is worth investigating.
Try to stay away from high pressure salespeople when scouting solar energy. Use as much time as possible to gain information about solar energy vendors. Buying under pressure is not good concerning the price and importance of your decision.
Always do the math and budgeting before taking the plunge into solar energy. Depending on your location, the costs of solar panels will outweigh the potential output of your system. Be sure to look before you leap. Study all the financial and technological specifications carefully.
Solar photovoltaic panels are a great option to consider to maximize your savings. Photo-voltraic panels work best in areas that get 5 hours of direct sunlight daily. This can offset the cost of heating your swimming pool.
Solar-powered cars can really reduce carbon-based pollutants; however, the technology hasn't been perfected yet. That said, there are other machines which are fully solar powered. Generators are perfect for black outs or camping, for example.
Chart your patterns of energy consumption and use that information to estimate your needs. Prior to going over to solar power, you should have a solid idea of your power needs. Knowing this will make it easier to choose the right sized solar energy system. If possible, check your utility bills over the course of a year to determine your energy needs for each season.
Solar power is an excellent source of clean energy. However, you must think over your options before getting solar energy for your home or business. Use these tips to make the best decision. Before long, you will be running on clean solar energy.
Marie resident Marly Day enters the circle for The Rivers Speak Community Play, her steps will form a crescendo in her journey back from near-death. As part of her regalia, she will wear the eagle feather she acquired during that journey.“I will be playing the Thunderbird Woman,” she says, “but it’s not so much ‘playing’ because I take this seriously. Thunderbird Woman; she’s a powerful being.”During the first two weeks of September, Day will be at the centre of The Rivers Speak, one of the largest, most ambitious, theatrical productions mounted in Algoma. The cast will include more than 30, the majority of them local, with a mix of professional theatre artists, dedicated amateur players, and first-time actors.More than four years ago, founder Robin Sutherland, later joined by general manager Miranda Bouchard, started meeting people over tea to ignite interest in the idea of this large-scale, community-based play.“Since 2013, we’ve welcomed more than 1,500 people to share stories and make art about our local rivers and waterways in preparation for this community play,” says Sutherland.Sutherland studied community development at the London School of Economics. Bouchard is a visual artist and former curator of the Art Gallery of Algoma. The two life-long friends, who first met at elementary school in Blind River, now run Thinking Rock community arts, the organization responsible for mounting The Rivers Speak. Their belief is when people participate in community arts projects, they learn new skills and build relationships that ultimately help create stronger, more harmonious communities.Their mission is to invite people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to share their stories and dreams about Algoma — what it was, what it is, and what it might be.The Rivers Speak play will be performed outdoors and involves the audience moving from scene to scene around the Mississaugi First Nation Pow Wow grounds. The storyline melds narratives from a young French Canadian girl and an Anishnaabe boy growing up in Algoma during the 1940s; teachings by Thunderbird Woman about the sacredness of water and use of strawberries and tobacco in Anishinaabe ceremonies; a square dance hosted by loggers at the Wharncliffe Hall celebrating the end of log run season; and a River Chorus that gives voice to the many river stories that have been shared by community members throughout the project.Traditional step-dances and Celtic music will blend with Anishnaabe drums, singing, and dancing throughout the piece.Sutherland wrote the script after hundreds of hours of meetings and workshops aimed at collecting stories from people throughout the region.Marly Day, music director James Stephens and a plethora of other local musicians, hand drummers and singers, have been working with AlgomaTrad’s Julie Schryer, Pat O’Gorman, Áine Schryer-O’Gorman, and Zach Schryer-Lefebvre to create the musical score. For her part, Day doesn’t refer to The Rivers Speak as a “play” but as a ceremony. The staging — where people enter from the east, go full circle, and exit out the east — came to her in a vision. The Rivers Speak will also use the strawberry song that Day sang hundreds of times with her late sister Brenda Jonah and their hand drum group the White Thunder Women.“It’s a ceremonial song when we make an offering from one heart to another heart. The song talks about forgiveness,” says Day.Jonah died five years ago and Marly carries a pouch of her sister’s ashes on her drum.“Every time I go on stage, I call her,” she says.Another relative who is still very present for Day is her grandfather, who died when she was only three. He taught Day and her siblings in the traditional way. “I think he would want us to be out there sharing and doing what we’re doing as a family. I think this is a really important piece to help people truly understand Anishinaabe people — what we do and who we are,” says Day.Much has happened to compel Day to feel called to this role.Twenty years ago, her daughter found an eagle’s feather near the bridge to St. Joseph Island. Day gave it to her brother, medicine man and traditional teacher Isaac Day, who used it in ceremonies for all those years.A few months ago, Day was in the hospital so sick she was close to death. Isaac Day came in with his family, formed a circle, and did a ceremony, during which he gave her the eagle feather. He told her, “If you think that you’ve worked with people, you’re going to be working with many, many more.”That night, she remembers waking up alone, the hospital halls quiet and the lights dim. She felt the Thunderbird Woman’s presence — the beak on her face, and the wings on her back. This marked the beginning of her journey back toward life and strength.“So, to me, when I come out there, the Thunderbird Woman is very real,” she says. The Rivers Speak Community Play runs Wednesday to Saturday and Sept 13-16, all at 6 p.m., at the Misswezhaging (Mississaugi First Nation) Pow Wow Grounds.
